Thrifting Montreal

I love finding amazing second hand, unique pieces and the cheaper the better. Finding deals is what I'm good at so I hope you enjoy and start finding great stuff at wonderful prices.

Almost done.

Oh thank god, I can see the end of the semester. I’m in for a big change though, I’ll soon be moving to the townships for the summer. I’m excited though, I’ll be living it up with my bestie, and i’ll be able to explore church sales, garage sales, and some cheap thrift shops.

 Here’s some stuff…

My surprise birthday, t-shirt, bag and watch, thrifted. (salvation army, Notre Dame Ouest)

The sweater was thrifted, the boyfriend I picked up at a bar five years ago. (Brocante)

Balloon party!! The shirt, which you can’t see very well, was thrifted (3.99$ Renaissance on decarie)

And a halloween treasures. Everything but the watch and pendant were thrifted.

Happy thrifting xox

Shoes.

I am not a photographer, model or writter (I don’t think I have ever passed a grammar test in my life) but I really do enjoy sharing the items I thrift and the places I thrift them from. So bare with me and please forgive some of my blogging faux pas.

The best place for shoes so far has to be the Salvation Army in Griffintown (1620 Notre Dame Ouest corner of Guy). This slavation army seems to be the official drop off station for everything from ZARA’s past seasons. Here’s what I’ve found.

Ok so I did it, I posted pictures of myself. (eek)

Everything but the shorts(f21) have been thrifted at various locations. The shoes were $9.99 sweet!

These shoes don’t belong to me they belong to my roommate (so jealous). The shirt was found at a church rummage sale in Knowlton Quebec and it happens every Thursday. The bag was thrifted at the Gaillarde in St. henri.

It was really hard to get a good photo of these shoes. They are great for summer and for people who may ,like myself, have trouble walking in heels. $6.99

I wanted a pair of shoes like these ever since my friend bought a sweet pair Steve Maddens. These were $4.99

Happy Thrifting.

Bling Bling.

For those of you who may be turned off my wearing second hand clothes, jewlery is a fun way to ease into thrifting.

These bracelets are fun when you want to add a little ghetto gold to an outfit.  The two on the ends are from the flea market Marche datan (7707 St. Michel). I can’t take credit for the one in the middle though, my roommate got it for me after we spotted it at a store in our hood. I loved it cause it looked like something she-ra would have worn and who doesn’t want to channel her every now and then.

The watch never worked but I liked the style and it was only $o.50 so as long as people don’t ask me the time I’ll be fine and a little more stylish.

The watch, sliver and leopard print bracelet all come from Brocante in St. Henri. The thick chain link one comes from a place in the west island that my friend took me to awhile back.

I always clean my ”new” earings with some rubbing alcohol and polysporin. My thrifted earings have never given me any irratation as long as I stick to my little cleaning routine I’m good to go.

Happy Thrifting.

Bags and Shoes Galore.

When I go thrifting I’m always drawn to the shoe and bag sections first. Bags may just be my achilles heel and I don’t need anymore but…

It’s easier said then done. Case in point…

One place that always has a great selection of bags and shoes is the Fripe-prix Renaissance (801 Decarie Boulevard, Cote Vertu metro). It’s a tad more expensive than the other places I have mentioned but they do a ton of good so it’s money well spent.

Some boots…

Hello lovelies. These boots were not my size (so sad) however at $9.99 I had to pick them up for my roommate. She’s pretty lovely herself so it made the purchase of these quite easy.

Some Bags…

This woven gem was $4.99

Can I get an AMEN for this wicker bag.(oh god I sound like a payless commercial). The bag was $4.99.

And because I love both my roommates, I got this bag for the other blond in my life. $5.99

Thanks renaissance. Happy thrifting.

Rain Rain and Crutches go away.

I cannot wait to no longer be a slave to my crutches and finally be able to get around Montreal and start exploring again. Until then here are some more from my files.

As I was saying I love Brocante (the dirty st. Henri place) and said I have more things to share with you.

This bag was a little damaged when I bought it, the strap is cracked and the brown is kind of flaking off but I bought the bag for a dollar and have been looking for a replacement strap.

Now I realize this sweater may not be for everyone but I thought it was fun and I love me a good grand-pa , or in this case, grand-ma sweater. My boyfriend thinks I have lost my mind but you can be the judge.

And to make up for the “ugly” sweater, I found this shirt at the Value Village near Jean-Talon metro. That is one of the best Village des Valeurs in the city however I have heard rumors of a better one near the Olympic stadium.I’ll have to check it out and report back. Here’s the awesome shirt.

Not really the best shot of this shirt I tried to find a good picture of me in the shirt. However Im not sure if I want to add photos of myself in the clothes. My brother had some choice words about the subject but he also called me a scenester so Im not too sure what to do. I guess time will tell.

Keeping it local.

Ah St. Henri how I love all the things you offer including this lovely little store. Brocante is located at 4005 Notre Dame Ouest and offers extremely low prices. I love to swing by this place at least once a month because # 1 it’s on the way home # 2 It is a cheap way to to fulfill my shopping addiction #3 they have  enough of a turn over it makes the monthly trips worth it. Just make sure to give the items a good wash because from time to time the owners like to smoke inside. eww.

Here are some of my sweet finds.

This bag was.. wait for it.. One dollar and I love it. It is pretty much my go to bag and was my first big find from this store.

Another fun thing about thrifting through the this store is that it allows me to buy trends that may be a little out of my comfort zone but this shirt cost me a 1$ and I have worn it twice and i don’t feel like I have wasted my money. The Same goes for the shirt below. At 2$ I loved the colour and couldn’t let it some scenester girl get it.

Can you tell I go often I have found so much good stuff here it might have to be two posts. Just one last thing before I go. These boots are a touch bit too small but I made them fit at three dollars I wasn’t letting my roommates get these. Sorry girls.

‘Bout Time

This is one of my absolute favorite places to thrift! The place is full of little old ladies and dirty old men looking to make a deal and sell their goodies. So many booths with so many different things. This place is full of stuff for boys and girls. open Friday-Sunday 9am to 5pm

Here are some of the things I have found.

I got this bag with two others for 20$ not too bad just make sure you check the clasp.

I don’t wear necklaces often but saw this one and figured why not at 5$ if I don’t wear it I know my roommate will.

I was looking for a bag like this since I spotted them on etsy this winter. Online they were 20-40$ I got mine for 5 bucks.

My sweet shades that I got for a cool two dollars. They need some minimal maitnance though.
